Religious education has traditionally been associated with children by way of CCD or parochial schools. Therefore, adult Catholics have been left out, but often desire to recapture the knowledge they learned as children and apply their faith to the many trials of adulthood. Often it is not until someone of another faith asks us questions like “Why do Catholics worship Mary?” or “Why do you have to confess to a priest?” that we begin to realize how much we have forgotten or just never really got a firm understanding of in the first place.
Our mission is to provide lifelong education and rediscovery of our Catholic Faith and Traditions for both cradle Catholics and new converts to the Faith.
The following are ways in which we try to do just that:
Christ Life: A program dedicated to fulfilling the command of Christ to “go therefore and make disciples.” Discovering Christ is a seven week program that begins in September and opens the door for people who are searching for the meaning of their lives to find that meaning through the Good News and personal love of Jesus Christ. Dinner, live music, a relevant teaching, and a small table environment are included (as well as free child care). For more information, go to www.stfrancismadisonchristlife.org. Begins Wednesday Evening, September 12, 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
Coffee and Creed: presents a great way to learn more about your Catholic faith. Programs from Ascension Press, Word on Fire, Formed.org, and the St. Paul Center for Biblical Theology are offered. Basic Catholic apologetics are also included. Experience has demonstrated that there is power in sharing your faith within the context of a small faith group. Participants sit in groups of six to eight. After watching or listening to a presentation, each small faith group shares their thoughts on the teaching presented that morning. Coffee and donuts are also included. For more information, please go to the Coffee and Creed website at https://www.stfrancismadisonchristlife.org/coffee-and-creed1.html.Sunday mornings 9:00 to 10:15 AM in St. Clare.
Catholic Stuff You Should Know. One of the longest continually running programs in the parish, ‘Catholic Stuff You Should Know’ (aka Sunday Morning Adult Ed) explores topics and issues, sometimes current, sometimes historical, and how they relate to living out our lives in Christ as Catholics. Through presentations, videos and lively discussion, we cover everything from Church history, apologetics, theology, Church teachings to current events. Come and be a part of our family every Sunday morning from 9:15-10:15 in the lounge of the FLC Lounge.
St. Clare Bible Study: This long standing group meets every Wednesday in St Clare Hall from 10 – 11 a.m.
