Faithful Followers

Who is a Faithful Follower?
All high school students (grades 9-12) at St Francis. We are an open community and welcome all youth.

What is Our Mission?
To make disciples of Jesus Christ.

"Win, Build, Send."

Our mission is founded on Matthew 28:19-20, "Go make disciples" and also on Jesus' call, "Come, follow me and I will make you fishers of men." (Matthew 4:19)

We will

  • actively participate in the community
  • share our faith
  • challenge one another
  • develop spiritually
  • minister to and be enriched by serving those in need
  • mature and flourish socially.

When and Where do we Meet and What do we Do?
Sunday Youth Night. With the rest of our worship community, we celebrate Sunday 5:30 pm mass together. All high school youth are invited to sit together in the pews by the choir. Immediately after mass, in the Family Life Center there is dinner, followed by youth classes from 7:15 - 8:30 pm.

Wednesday 'Youth Group' Meetings. We meet every Wednesday evening in our Lounge. Social hour is from 5:30 to 6:30pm (play pool, listen to music, play basketball or hang out and chat), the meeting follows from 6:30 to 7:30pm. and each Wednesday has a different theme. Wednesday night is also the time to help organize our Youth Ministry and have a say in Faithful Followers.

Mission Trips. We spend a week in Saltillo each year serving others by repairing and building missions, helping at the rancheros, delivering supplies and clothing in the barrios and helping with the medical team.

Social Activities. The teens of our parish come together to enjoy many different events and activities such as Mystic Bowling, Putt Putt, Ice Skating, Blue Bayou Water Park, Movies, MS Braves Baseball Games & more!

Youth Mass. The last Sunday of each month is total Youth Mass. Teens are lectors, Ministers of Holy Communion, ushers/greeters, cantors and musicians.

Open Gym Basketball and Volleyball. Tuesday through Thursday night is open Gym from 6:00 to 8:00pm. Come and enjoy an evening of basketball and/or volleyball.

Bible Study. Sharing with the scriptures is an important part of our faith. We do it at the Wednesday meeting and of course at Eucharist.

On Line Prayer Sharing. That's right - ONLINE Bible Studies/Retreats are a part of our program as well - what a great way to use the internet. If you want to be included send your email address to Ms Abbey.

Movie-Pizza Night. Tuesdays and Thursdays during the summer join us for a night of pizza and a movie in the Lounge. It's a great way to spend an evening - friends, food and fellowship.

Student Leadership. Faithful followers work hard ministering to one another to make our program strong. Peer Ministers run meetings, lead prayer, manage small group discussions and more.
